The inspection of lifting slings at three monthly intervals is a mandatory requirement for all users but it should be recognised that this is the minimum requirement to comply with the legal obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act No.85 of 1993 and that in practice more frequent inspections of a visual nature by the operator or other designated personnel, will be to the user's benefit in quickly identifying possible problems arising out of the normal and abnormal day-to-day usage.
